Problem

Musicians lose the thread between writing and playing live.

A song often moves through disconnected notes, charts, voice memos, files, and setlist tools. Each hand-off adds friction and strips away musical context.

Songscript treats the chart as a living product object: something that can be written, arranged, rehearsed, shared, and performed without rebuilding it at every stage.

Product decisions

Design the desktop for authorship and the phone for the stage.

The macOS app prioritizes a dense, keyboard-friendly editing surface. The iOS app prioritizes legibility, set order, and fast performance controls. Both are native and share the same underlying song model.

ChordPro, MusicXML, and MIDI support make the model portable. On-device audio analysis is being explored where it can remove manual setup without making the core workflow dependent on a service.

Current proof

The end-to-end native workflow is tangible, with distribution still ahead.

Working macOS editing and iOS performance flows now demonstrate the product thesis. Store distribution and the remaining release work are still in progress, so Songscript is presented here as an active build—not a shipped product.

Workflow

Write → plan → perform

One structured song model carries the work from desktop editing into a live set.

Interchange

ChordPro · MusicXML · MIDI

Portable formats keep a musician’s material useful beyond a single screen.

Performance

Setlists + Stage mode

The mobile experience is reduced to the information and controls needed on stage.
